What is TikTok engagement rate?
Follower-based engagement compares the interactions your videos receive with your follower count. This tool includes likes, comments, and shares. It does not count unique engaged viewers, watch time, profile visits, or saves, and it does not connect to your TikTok account.
Use a consistent video sample
Average each interaction type across the same recent videos and use a follower count representative of that period. Mixing a viral video’s likes with ordinary videos’ comments can distort the result. Compare similar formats and account sizes; sponsored videos may behave differently from your organic posts.
Why followers and views produce different rates
TikTok videos can reach many people who do not follow the creator. Dividing interactions by followers can therefore produce a large rate, sometimes over 100%. A views-based rate answers a different question and would use views as the denominator. This tool deliberately uses followers, so do not compare its result directly with a views-based report.
From inputs to insight.
With 20,000 followers, 1,200 likes, 80 comments, and 120 shares per video, total interactions are 1,400. Engagement rate = 1,400 ÷ 20,000 × 100 = 7.00%.
Results depend on the accuracy and definitions of your inputs. Campaign performance varies by audience, niche, content format, geography, and attribution method. These tools provide estimates and context, not guarantees.

Frequently asked questions
Is this rate based on followers or views?
Followers. It divides average likes, comments, and shares by your follower count. Label it follower-based engagement when reporting it.
Can engagement be above 100%?
Yes. Non-followers can interact, and one viewer can take multiple actions. The numerator is interactions rather than unique people.
What should I do with a viral video?
Decide whether it is representative of the campaign or content you are assessing. Calculate the sample both with and without outliers when a single video dominates, and explain the sample you used.
Do you import my account data?
No. Enter averages from your own reporting. The calculator works locally without login or account access.
