THE FORMULA

CPM = campaign cost ÷ impressions × 1,000

What is creator CPM?

CPM means cost per thousand impressions. It puts campaigns with different budgets and delivery volumes on a comparable scale. For creator partnerships, count the costs and impressions that belong to the same campaign and reporting period. If you use video views instead, call the result a view-based CPM and compare campaigns using the same view definition.

How to calculate influencer campaign CPM

Divide total campaign cost by delivered impressions, then multiply by 1,000. Include creator fees, production costs, and paid distribution if those costs are part of your comparison. The cost per impression is the same calculation without the multiplier. Impressions must be greater than zero; a zero-cost campaign with positive impressions has a zero CPM.

CPM vs CPC vs CPA

CPM measures exposure cost. Cost per click measures the cost of generating a visit, while cost per acquisition measures the cost of an attributed conversion. A low CPM does not guarantee meaningful attention or sales. Compare audience relevance, watch time, click activity, and attributed conversions before deciding whether a campaign was effective.

A WORKED EXAMPLE

From inputs to insight.

A campaign costs $5,000 and receives 250,000 impressions. CPM = 5,000 ÷ 250,000 × 1,000 = $20.00. Each impression costs $0.0200. Changing the currency selector changes the label and number format; it does not convert these amounts.

Results depend on the accuracy and definitions of your inputs. Campaign performance varies by audience, niche, content format, geography, and attribution method. These tools provide estimates and context, not guarantees.

GOOD QUESTIONS

Frequently asked questions

What is a good influencer CPM?

There is no universal good CPM. Audience geography, niche, content quality, placement, reporting definitions, and campaign objectives affect what is reasonable. Compare similar campaigns and use outcome metrics alongside CPM.

Can I use views instead of impressions?

Yes, but describe it as a view-based CPM. Platforms count views and impressions differently, so keep the definition consistent across campaigns.

Are impressions the same as reach?

No. Reach generally counts unique people or accounts. Impressions count displays, including repeated displays to the same person. This calculator uses the total you enter and does not deduplicate it.

Does selecting INR convert a USD budget?

No. The currency selector formats the amounts you enter. Enter your campaign cost in the chosen currency; no exchange-rate service is used.

Should I include production costs?

Include them when you want an all-in campaign CPM. If you compare creator fees alone, exclude them consistently and state that basis in your reporting.
